East César Chávez Field Guide

Public City was contracted by the City of Austin Economic Development Department Redevelopment Services to implement placemaking projects in the East César Chávez District for the Souly Austin program.

Through direct engagement with the district constituents, the implementation of the placemaking efforts aimed to achieve the following:

• Further build capacity among the stakeholders

• Cultivate and further enhance a sense of place

• Build community in public and private spaces

The East César Chávez District Field Guide was developed through the inaugural Exploring East César Chávez District Creative Writing Workshop Series in partnership with The Library Foundation. The first volume of the guide was designed by district business Bodega Visual and launched June 22, 2019 at Prizer Arts and Letters. It was distributed to over 25 district businesses.
